                        The Fifth Canteen
Student-Centric Design

Location:   Neusoft Institute Guangdong , Foshan, Canton, China
Time:  08/2022
Area:  528㎡
Type: Hospitality
Client:
Students

The fifth canteen, while popular for its delicious offerings and capacity to accommodate a large number of students, faces significant challenges. Its current layout is cluttered and unwelcoming, leading to a gradual decline in usage by teachers and students alike.

I investigation into the space has revealed numerous practical issues, particularly in how modern users engage with the environment. The need for spaces that foster interaction and discussion has not been adequately met, affecting overall student attendance and engagement.

Recognizing these issues, I propose a comprehensive redesign of the canteen to meet the standards of a modern university. This redesign will focus on creating a welcoming, organized space that not only serves culinary needs but also enhances social interactions among students and faculty. By integrating the need of students, the new canteen will not only cater to functional needs but also contribute to the environmental and social fabric of the university community.

This area not only facilitates social engagements but
also enhances the overall aesthetic and environmental
quality of the university dining experience.

The dining area seamlessly integrates
functionality with aesthetic appeal, providing a
spacious environment that encourages social interactions.

This private dining area combines contemporary
elegance with privacy, ideal for quiet study
             sessions or intimate group discussions.
